Over a 13 week period, a group of us had classes from about 5:15pm to 6:30pm. Our teacher, Ian Fleming, taught us essential information regarding the rules of the road and the vehicles we drive. He would use a series of slides with information relating to the topic we were studying that lesson.
We would also frequently engage in fun activities, in and out of the classroom. For instance, one class we used special goggles that simulated the effects of being inebriated. This class was incredibly interesting and showed just how dangerous drink-driving is. At the end of the 13 weeks, we had a test to see whether we were ready or not to finish the course. I got 85% in the test and was very pleased with myself. I feel that the course will help me dramatically for my driving exam in the coming years.

First Aid was a extra curricular option that i chose to do at the very start of the year. We spent the three days learning how to perform CPR, bandaging and also what to do in an emergency situation, according to the patients ailments.
On the very first day, we were briefed on what we would be doing over the next 3 days. We were also given a face mask for CPR and a handbook, outlining the basics of first aid in a small, handbook format. On the last day we had a test on what we had learned the previous 3 days. I achieved 100% on both my physical and written exam. I hope these skills will help me on multiple occasions in later life to help people in need. On the 12th of December, myself along with several other students participated in a photography course in the sports hall. It was mainly focused on the ins and outs of different cameras we would use as photographers. We then proceeded to take portrait photos of each other, using different techniques we learned just minutes beforehand, to make them look incredibly professional. I found the experience thoroughly enjoyable and will definitely use the techniques I learnt later in life.
This year, from the 14th to the 19th of February, myself along with the whole year traveled to the small town of Carlingford in Co. louth, in which the adventure centre where we would spend the rest of our week was located. We were all divided into different rooms throughout the complex. I was put in a room with a few lads from form B. I was quite happy with my room and had a good time with them. Throughout the day we participated in multiple physical activities that were all very enjoyable. At no point did they feel boring or repetitive. These activities included ziplining, crystal maze, canoeing and a murder mystery (To name a few). All in all I found the entire experience thoroughly enjoyable and besides a few small problems the facility and its faculty was very warm and welcoming. I would be happy to recommend this course to a friend. As a whole year project for 4th year, myself along with all my classmates participated in a musical production. This specific musical was called “Legally Blonde” and was largely based on the movie of the same name. The production surrounds Elle Woods… a quirky and fun blonde girl from malibu who falls madly in love with a boy who eventually leaves her. In retaliation to this Elle decides to go to the same school her ex was going and try and win him back.
The play centers around herself and her fellow classmates along with a few strange characters thrown into the mix. Elle was played by Abbie Mccarthy, with Luke Shanahan as her co star. I played a Gay man named Carlos who declares his love to another gay man who claims he is not. The play was very funny and was also extremely hard to get right, but without the help of Aisling our musical co-ordinator, and Mrs. Olahan, who helped us all with our musical talents, it would not have been possible. This year, on the evening of November 16th 2017, myself and my year (along with the fifth and sixth year students) participated in the careers evening night, in which parents and students, who were either mastered or studying in a field, came in to talk to us about career options. I had a conversation with a few people, who gave me a good insight into various career options. These careers included Medicine,Computer Science, Business/Finance and Science. I did wish there was someone who had a background in psychology as I would love to be a psychologist but even without it, the evening was a great eye opener. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the night and I couldn't have asked for better guests to come in and speak to us.
